January
We have had an exciting month at school after coming back from our winter break! We started back working on "C is for Clothing" and "S is for Senses." We explored lots of different clothing textures using our sense of touch. We also had lots of fun putting our sense of smell to work with mystery scents. One of our favorite stories this unit was "I Smell a Pickle."
Everyone LOVED the community helpers unit, focusing on "H is for Helper." It was so much fun exploring the various helpers in our communities through lots of books and hands on experiences! While learning about police officers, we got to create a "shape" police car using circles, squares and rectangles. Later into the unit, we even got to pretend to be construction workers and the kiddos got real creative with their designs made from Lincoln Logs.
The field trip to the fire station was a hit! We all learned so much about the important jobs our local fire fighters do. I especially loved seeing the excitement in their little eyes during the tour!
Everyone really worked hard this unit being helpers themselves- especially towards each other, emphasizing kindness and being a good friend. Stay tuned for more excitement as we head into February fun!
