Learning Community Schedule:
Monday-Thursday
Our learning community gathers throughout the week in a variety of age-based and mixed-age experiences. Programming currently takes place between 9:00 AM-2:00 PM, with each child's schedule determined by their program enrollment and family needs. Please visit our Programs page for additional details regarding attendance options, schedules, and program offerings.
A Playful and Purposeful Daily Rhythm
At Willow & Wonder Academy, our daily flow is thoughtfully crafted to honor the way children learn best: through curiosity, connection, and meaningful exploration.
Rather than rigid time blocks or traditional classroom periods, we follow a consistent yet flexible rhythm that balances structure with freedom. Each part of the day is rooted in whole-child development and designed to support joyful, hands-on learning across academic and social-emotional domains.
We intentionally embed literacy, math, science, social studies, and social-emotional learning into multi-sensory experiences that invite students to wonder, build, collaborate, move, and create.
Because our learning community includes multiple age groups and overlapping schedules, these experiences may look different from one cohort to another. While the rhythm remains consistent, learning is responsive to the needs, interests, and developmental stages of the children present each day.
Elements of Our Daily Rhythm
Arrival and Table Time
Students ease into the learning environment through calm, open-ended invitations that promote focus and connection. These may include journaling, fine motor provocations, sensory play, puzzles, quiet reading, creative building, or other hands-on invitations.
Discovery and Play
Learners engage in active discovery, indoors or outdoors, through imaginative play, social collaboration, and nature-based exploration. This time honors autonomy, fosters relationships, and often sparks ideas that carry into the rest of the day.
Gather and Connect
We come together to build connection, share stories or songs, move our bodies, and reflect on our learning. This shared time helps children feel grounded, seen, and part of a meaningful learning community. It serves as a gentle anchor that brings our values to life and sets the tone for joyful exploration.
Core Exploration Time
Hands-on, interdisciplinary learning unfolds through small groups, centers, projects, and guided invitations. Depending on the day and cohort, this time might include:
Phonics and storytelling through play
Math games with manipulatives and loose parts
Inquiry-based science experiments and nature journaling
Thematic social studies projects and creative problem-solving
Child-led writing, poetry, and other forms of creative expression
For older students, this time may also include independent goal work and passion projects, where learners explore personal interests, set goals, and engage in deeper, self-directed learning. This might look like researching a topic of interest, building or designing a project, writing, creating, or pursuing a long-term idea with guidance and support.
Instruction is responsive, rooted in developmental needs, individual readiness, and student interests. Whether a child is learning letter sounds or researching how bridges are built, their learning experience is purposeful, engaging, and meaningful.
Outdoor Exploration, Movement, and Social-Emotional Learning
This time supports not only physical development, but also emotional regulation, relationship-building, communication, and self-awareness. The natural world offers space to move, breathe, problem-solve, and practice social skills in authentic and meaningful ways.
Reflection and Closing
We end our time together with intention by revisiting discoveries, sharing learning, and celebrating growth. During our closing reflection, students are invited to think about their experiences throughout the day, including moments of learning, perseverance, kindness, curiosity, friendship, and personal growth.
These meaningful conversations encourage self-awareness, confidence, gratitude, and connection while giving each child an opportunity to reflect on their experiences and celebrate their growth. Every child leaves feeling seen, valued, and excited for what comes next.
